3Commas EU alternative: what to use after the July 2026 exit

3Commas.eu closed on July 1, 2026, with no migration of bots, strategies or settings. Here is what EU investors should know — and what a MiCA-aligned alternative looks like.

What happened: 3Commas exited the EU on July 1, 2026

3Commas.eu confirmed that its platform closed for EU and EEA users on July 1, 2026. There was no automatic migration of accounts, bots, SmartTrades, subscriptions or open positions — users were required to review and close everything manually before that date.

The closure was a direct consequence of MiCA — the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation — which ended its transitional period on July 1, 2026. From that date, any crypto-asset service provider without a MiCA CASP licence can no longer legally serve EU clients.

3Commas was not alone. Of the more than 3,000 crypto firms registered across EU member states before MiCA, only around 244 held full CASP authorisation by the July 1 deadline — meaning roughly 80% of the pre-MiCA market either exited or became non-compliant.

Why MiCA matters for automated trading tools specifically

Most MiCA coverage has focused on exchanges and custody providers. But automated trading platforms — tools that connect to your broker or exchange via API and execute orders on your behalf — fall squarely within MiCA's definition of a crypto-asset service provider when they operate in the EU.

This means that any trading bot or automation platform serving EU users without a MiCA CASP licence is now operating outside the law. For users, this creates real practical risk: no EU regulatory protections, no recourse if the platform fails, and potential account restrictions at any time.

What to look for in a MiCA-aligned alternative

Not all alternatives are equal. The questions that matter: Is the platform based in the EU? Is it pursuing or holding a MiCA CASP licence? Does it keep your funds with your existing broker, or does it require you to transfer them to a third party? Is the strategy logic transparent and human-approved before execution?

Non-custodial architecture is particularly important. A platform that connects to your existing Kraken, Coinbase or Saxo Bank account via API — without ever holding your funds — carries fundamentally different risk from one that asks you to deposit into its own accounts.

How My Metric Trade is different

My Metric Trade is built in Estonia under EU law and is pursuing MiCA CASP licensing via Finantsinspektsioon, Estonia's financial regulator. Regulatory capital is held at LHV Pank, one of Estonia's leading regulated banks.

The platform is non-custodial by architecture: it connects to your existing broker or exchange via a read/trade-only API. Your funds never leave your broker account. My Metric Trade cannot withdraw funds, take custody of assets, or act outside the rules you have explicitly approved.

Every strategy is displayed in plain language before it runs. You review it, approve it, and can pause or stop it at any time at the rule, strategy or account level.

Equities as well as crypto — the gap 3Commas never filled

3Commas was crypto-only. My Metric Trade is building a broker-agnostic layer that covers both crypto and equities: Kraken is live now, with OKX and Alpaca Europe (equities) on the near-term roadmap, followed by Saxo Bank, Coinbase and Interactive Brokers.

For EU investors who hold both crypto and traditional assets, this matters. One automation layer, one rule-builder, one activity log — across all connected accounts.

Pricing and getting started

3Commas' Starter plan was priced at $22/month before exit. My Metric Trade's Starter plan is €9.99/month, including 30 rules, all safeguards, and all connected brokers. Paper trading is free — no credit card required.

There is no automatic migration from 3Commas — your bots, strategies and settings do not transfer. But rebuilding a rule-based strategy in My Metric Trade's visual builder typically takes less than 15 minutes, and paper trading lets you validate it before going live.
